Ariana Grande’s Oscars Dress Is Giving Glinda the Good Witch
After almost 10 years in the making, the long-awaited film adaptation of Broadway’s Wicked is finally almost here! And Ariana Grande is playing Glinda so of course she had to show up to the 2024 Academy Awards in a dress that’s like a modern day version of the one the good witch wears. She’s in custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture and Tiffany & Co. jewelry giving equal parts bubblegum princess and Glinda.
Grande is presenting tonight, though we wish she was performing a song off her newly released album, Eternal Sunshine. (Her first one in five years!) She sat down on a recent episode of The Zach Sang Show and got real about her breakup with ex-husband Dalton Gomez and romance with Wicked costar Ethan Slater.
“Pieces of it touch on things that are real and then pieces of it are also just..part of the concept,” she told the podcaster. “So what is that separation? And it’s so scary to leave it up to these selective memory people to decipher. It’s scary. But I digress. It’s too late, the vinyls have been printed.”
She expressed her frustration with the attention surrounding her relationships. “But of course,” she told Sang, “there’s an insatiable frustration, inexplicable, hellish feeling with watching people misunderstand the people you love, and you and anything.”
Grande’s Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo, also slayed at the Oscars. She wore a custom Louis Vuitton green dress that looks to be maybe leather.
Erivo is playing Elphaba in the upcoming film and we can’t wait to see these two sing their heart outs on the big screen.
