Even if you aren’t into beauty or you’re barely on TikTok, chances are you’ve heard of Mikayla Nogueira. The 25 year old quickly rose to fame on TikTok with now more than 15 million followers on the app. Now, the beauty girl is entering her fashion era with another Dime Optics collab of affordable sunnies. We caught up with Nogueira to talk all things accessories, fashion trends, and skincare secrets.

StyleCaster: You’re so well known for makeup. Why a sunglasses collaboration?

Mikayla Nogueira: “I mean, I’m an accessories girly. If I could do jewelry, sunglasses, anything like that, I’m so into it. But sunglasses…if you saw my sunglasses collection, you would pass away. How many? Well over 200 of them.”

SC: How does your love of accessories relate to makeup?

MN: “I love fashion and I love makeup. I think sunglasses are a really cool accessory to accentuate your makeup in a way. Like the blue pair that I came out with, Bad Beach. Just put it on a blue eyeshadow look underneath that. And when you take your sunglasses off, everyone’s like whoa.”

SC: What made you choose Dime as a partner?

MN: “This is my third round of frames with [Dime]. They let me basically do whatever I want, which is key for me. I literally draw my designs and send it to them and pray they can create it. The quality of them is so high. If you hold a pair of luxury, expensive and Dime ones, you’re not going to know the difference. And that’s what I really appreciate about them.”

MN: “The one thing about me, is I’ve always like done the style that I truly want to do. I’ve never done what’s trendy. When I was a little girl, my mom handmade all of my clothes. So she would buy crazy prints from Joann Fabric and make me dresses and shirts and skirts. I always was known as the girl with the crazy style because my mom would make my clothes. That translated into later in my life where I knew that fashion is meant to be fun. If you look in my closet, it’s all color coded. But the section of black and white is so small compared to like, neon, and pastel.”

SC: How has your makeup changed in recent years?

MN: “The looks that I used to do were outrageous. This makeup I feel like that I have on right now is very wearable. But the looks that I have done throughout my life are more like, people are staring at me. I think the influence of the clean girl aesthetic, which is like all the rage right now, is definitely hitting me, smacking me in the face. But I’m trying to like navigate that because I miss doing those crazy eccentric looks. On my TikTok, I’m really trying to get people to do these looks again because it’s creative and fun. I understand that doing those looks are very time consuming. And that’s the one thing people don’t have is time.”

SC: How do you remove so much makeup?

MN: “I like a cleansing oil. I mean, I was in my makeup wipe era for a long time. But then I thought to myself, I should maybe stop doing this. My favorite cleansing oils are DHC , Caudalie, Fenty Skin, the Garnier Micellar Water. And then I always double cleanse and I use the Rael cleanser . Oh my god. It’s exceptional. I’ve been using it for [more than] a year and I am obsessed.”

SC: Your skin has been looking so good!

MN: “I literally didn’t begin doing skincare until I was around 20 or 21. I would do the makeup wipe and that was it. So my skin was not in great shape. I kid you not, when I began doing skincare, it aged me the other way. I used to have the deepest wrinkles on my forehead. Now, I raise my eyebrows and nothing and I don’t get Botox or anything in my forehead. My skin was so dry. Now, I can’t be without skincare. I discovered pimple patches during COVID and I use them every day now. Hero Cosmetics are the best ones. Period.”
