Did you ever think a movie set in the 1880s could hugely inspire us with its fashion as much as Poor Things does? Bella Baxter, played by Best Actress winner Emma Stone, has an eccentric Victorian-inspired wardrobe and it’s motivated us to dress playfully and take more fashion risks. After the film’s costume designer Holly Waddington took home an Oscar for Best Costume Design, the internet became even more obsessed with Poor Things fashion. 

Waddington told The Telegraph that she drew inspiration for Bella’s outfits from her toddlers. Specifically, how they rambunctiously run around with either no pants or their pants on their head. While those seem like extravagant elements to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe, Bella Baxter does it effortlessly and in a way that feels natural to her. She’s a weird character, so it makes sense that her clothes are weird too.
